WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU

After your reservation is confirmed, here are some thoughts on what to bring and what The Lazy M can provide:

• We suggest guests come prepared for cool weather in the spring and fall - Layers are GOOD as Alberta weather can change in a matter of minutes.  It doesn't hurt to have some warm things even in the heat of summer!
  

• Gloves are good when riding and working with horses, but we like guests who wish to bridle or learn to bridle their own mounts to remove their gloves when doing this.  It makes for a better feel for the horse AND the rider.
  

• Riding boots or a boot with a good heel.  Please do NOT bring hiking boots for riding.  They are just TOO wide and can get stuck in a stirrup.
  

• Comfy walking shoes, trainers/runners, or hiking boots for around the Ranch. 
  

• Slippers or soft shoes for wearing in the Lodge.  Our pine floors are soft and we ask the guests to remove their outside footwear.
  

• Hard hats are NOT mandatory for adults, but if you normally wear one at home we encourage you to bring it with you for your comfort.  For our younger guests, hard hats are REQUIRED.  We do not have any here so PLEASE bring your own!
  

• Baseball caps work well for protection from the sun.
  

• Cowboy hat/stetson If you bring one please make certain it has a stampede string.  Windy weather creates blowing hats which can easily spook the horses!
  

• Sun Screen, Insect Repellent, Anti-itch/sting and Antihistamines for insect bites.  Different bugs cause different reactions, so it is wise to be prepared.
  

• Your personal toiletry items..
  

• Bring a bathing suit for the hot tub and, for the really adventurous, floating in our local Stauffer river.  We will provide all the towels.
  

• The LAZY M provides 'Long Rider Coats' or Oilskins for rainy cool weather.  If you have your own you can certainly bring it as we sometimes run short!  
  

• We do NOT provide chaps or half chaps so bring them if you have them.
  

• For the fly fisher people we do NOT supply any equipment.  We have found over the years that our fishing people are SERIOUS and prefer their own!  There is an EXCELLENT shop for fishing and hunting supplies in Caroline where one can purchase flys for the area, maps, and the all important fishing license.
  

• ALCOHOL -  a frequently asked question.  We generally offer one glass of wine or a beer with supper or after a ride.  If you wish more than this for your personal use, please bring your own or we can pick some up for you on one of our many 'shopping runs'.
  

• LAUNDRY - another frequently asked question.  For guests staying 7 days or longer, our staff can do a load of laundry.  The rate:  $5.00 (Cdn) per load - payable in cash.
