We'd like to offer Lazy M the following feedback: Voices from the Fire : Vision in Truth is a collaborative community-based research project looking at creating a community-based perspective on Aboriginal HIV/AIDS in central Alberta. Voices required the use of a venue in which to bring together a diverse group of people from around central Alberta to be trained as field researchers on this project. We were looking for a venue that would allow for deep and meaningful sharing around sensitive issues, a place to reflect, and a place to build relationships. We were also looking for an environment that would allow our group to connect with nature, and their surroundings. The environment also needed to be a place for our members to work on their own stories. The Lazy M Lodge provided all of these needs and more.
Some of the words we would use to describe the environment of the Lazy M Lodge would include:Beautiful usable spaces, warmth, re-energize, retreat, plan, and strategize. The natural environment of the lodge and the accommodation allow you to connect with the earth, wildlife, and surroundings. There are several spots around the acreage that allow for this connection including chairs overlooking the river, benches down by the river, and a large gathering area outside complete with fire pits. These areas are essential to a relaxing and recharging area, where people can reflect with all the natural elements.
Some of the words we would use about the service provided by Randy and Marcel of the Lazy M Lodge would include:Flexibility, sensitivity, kindness and great food. Randy and Marcel work with your vision of the type of retreat you are looking for with your group, and make the vision work from the moment of preparation, to arrival and departure. The service is shaped around individual and group needs, and is quick to respond to changes in the schedule or feel of your retreat. Randy and Marcel really do work with your group to ensure that the Ranch works with your group's flow. Every aspect of the service is specific to group and individual needs, down to the detail. This detail was seen with the preparation of meals, and ceremony specific to the Aboriginal culture of our group. Thank you Randy and Marcel for being a part of Voices journey, and helping make our field researcher summit such a memorable experience !
